About Bay Area Allergy & Asthma
For more than 18 years, Bay Area Allergy & Asthma has provided the best in care to patients of all ages. Dr. Mona Mangat is board-certified in Allergy & Immunology and is a leader in the diagnosis and specialized treatment of asthma and a variety of allergic conditions. She is assisted by an outstanding staff of medical assistants and office personnel. Our mission is to create an environment where our patients and providers are partners on the journey to better health. Patient-centered care is at the heart of our practice. Our staff takes the time necessary to understand your particular needs, desires and barriers to attaining those goals. We want you to feel better walking out of our office than when you walked in.
Our approach begins by gathering a detailed medical, social and family history. A thorough physical exam is critical. Dr. Mangat has been trained as an internist & a pediatrician so she is quite comfortable examining even the littlest of patients. Together, we formulate a testing and treatment plan that is in your best interests. We spend a lot of time educating you on your disease process, how you can improve your environment and how to be compliant with the prescribed treatment regimen.
Allergy patients often are concerned about procedures used to diagnose and treat allergies. We trust that you will be pleasantly surprised and if you have concerns about your testing, feel free to call our office at (727) 327-5719.
Accelerated allergy treatment (AAT)
We’re now offering intralymphatic immunotherapy, or what we refer to as Accelerated Allergy Treatment (AAT), a breakthrough allergy treatment that offers patients relief from allergy symptoms with fewer treatments and faster results. Traditional allergy injections require 3-5 yrs of treatment, but with our Accelerated Allergy Treatment, you can expect relief from allergy symptoms after 3 injections spaced 4 weeks apart. To learn more about this new service, watch the video below and read the frequently asked questions.
Food allergy treatment
Our approach to diagnosing food allergies is thorough and evidence based. We combine the history from the patient’s ingestion and reaction with advanced blood and skin testing to assess the risk of food allergy accurately. In some cases, an oral food challenge in our monitored clinic setting may be conducted to distinguish between a food intolerance and a true food allergy. A confirmed diagnosis of food allergy opens the door to a variety of tailored treatment options. Currently, treatment options include strict food avoidance, Xolair injections and now Food Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT).
